Bible time

2Co 10:18 For it is not the one who commends himself who is approved, but the one whom the Lord commends. (ESV)

So, I bet ya sitting there, thinking “I need to do more. I need to help people. I need to do something.”

Well, lemme tell ya something.

I’ve been there, in fact still there. But during quiet time today this verse got me thinking.

Do I want to help people because God wants me to and therefore no one will notice? Or do I want to help people because I wanted people to “sing my praises” (I.e. go to Jessica’s site….it’ll really help you! Oh you know Jessica has a great site that helped me immensely. Hi Jessica, this is CNN).

Wonder which one I was thinking about most.

But seriously though, if you feel God is calling you to help people – AWESOME – just don’t think it’s gonna be the way you want it to be. You may write one small blog post about being sick with bipolar or you may get on the radio or you may just pray…..which in this writer’s opinion is the best thing….no biggest and best thing to do (I say this as I have a brand-new grand-nephew bordering on life or death. And prayer is making a huge difference).

You will make a difference and not even know it, but God does. And He will sing your praises

Zep 3:17
17 The Lord your God is in your midst,
a mighty one who will save;
he will rejoice over you with gladness;
he will quiet you by his love;
he will exult over you with loud singing.

All you need to do is follow his will by doing something. Don’t worry about who sees it (sorry CNN), just know God sees it.

If you think about it – isn’t that better? Not knowing you helped people but finding out in heaven all the people you helped out?
